2015 And The Six Dimensions of C.H.A.N.G.E.
By Kenny Chapman, The Blue Collar Coach
Here we are looking at the calendar and having the ever so common conversations around things like, “Where did the year go? It’s already 2015! I can’t believe how fast time is going.” We all know that time is relative and it does seem to pick up speed on us as we get another year older and head into another January in our lives.
Ah yes, January. The month of renewal, the month for resolutions, the month that will set the table for the next 11 months that follow it, right? Last year at this time I wrote to you about why New Year’s resolutions don’t work. This year I’ll spare you the same message, but you might go back and see that blog as it’s still completely relevant and true.
This year I want you to get predictable and sustainable results as we turn the corner into 2015. Even though it’s been a few years since I wrote my book entitled The Six Dimensions of C.H.A.N.G.E, I am yet to see a platform as simple and clear to execute as this system. This month I want to remind you of the power of this change system and help you start 2015 in a way to make it your best year yet.
I created the Six Dimensions because I love to set and achieve goals. However, I love helping and seeing other people set and achieve goals even more than hitting them myself it seems. Utilize these Six Dimensions to create the positive impact you desire in areas of your life ranging from your business to your personal relationships.
C – Clarity: We must begin with clarity to create anything we want in our lives. Most people wander through life bouncing from one thing to the next or jumping along task by task without really knowing why they are doing what they are doing. Once you achieve clarity, you can focus on why you want to achieve certain things and you will begin to unconsciously seek ways to accomplish what you want.
H – Habit: Studies say that up to 85% of what we do on a daily basis is done out of habit. That was a scary number to me when I first read it thinking we only engage our incredible human mind and consciously make choices 15% of the time we’re awake each day? This can be a gift and a curse. Habits are not a bad thing, but they must be examined to understand if they are serving you or hindering you when it comes to getting what you want.
A – Action: We all know that nothing happens without action. It’s easy to set goals, picture a dream life, visualize all that coming true, etc. However, you’ve got to “get off the couch” and go do something. In order to accomplish a goal you’ve never accomplished, you’ve got to do things you’ve never done. This requires massive action. Get engaged and play full out.
N – Never Give Up: Most people give up way too easily. When things get a little challenging we tend to seek another route or decide that it’s just not meant to be. It’s been said that miracles happen to people that don’t give up. Anything worthwhile will have some challenging aspects to it. It’s called growth. Challenges exist for us to learn from and grow as people. This may sound too simple and it probably is, but it’s incredibly powerful. Don’t ever give up until you get what you want.
G – Gratitude: I’m amazed by the level of negativity in the free world. We have it so good it’s simply amazing, but our society has taught us to always want more, always seek what’s next, and have an extreme lack of patience in the process. Deepen your gratitude, and you improve your life. I’m writing to you today from my couch in front of the fire next to the Christmas tree after flying half way across the country last night to get home. Not too many years ago, people would die on a trip like that, and it would take weeks and weeks! Be grateful, but don’t settle.
E – Enthusiasm: Find some passion! Raise the bar on yourself about what you get fully engaged in. If you don’t like your life or career, do something about it. Enthusiastic people are becoming less and less prevalent in our world. Why? If you don’t have enthusiasm about your life, then what’s the point in the first place? Are you just passing time until you end up in the front of a room in a box? None of us are getting out of here alive, so why wouldn’t we be enthusiastic about the chance we get to play this great game of life?
Review these Six Dimensions periodically. As you head into 2015, make a conscious decision to weed your garden when it comes to how you think, what you see as important, and how you spend your time. This is your time my friend. Live it with passion!
